The Sustainability, Health & Safety (SHS) Program Manager has accountability to support continuous improvement of the Sustainability, Health & Safety (SHS) program performance by ensuring program implementation, adherence, and evaluation. This position supports operations leadership through consulting, coaching, and mentoring to ensure program implementation in alignment with strategic performance targets as directed by their manager. 

  • Develops and executes a 1-year business plan ensuring alignment with the overall corporate strategic plan and immediate manager’s business plan.  
  • Ensures consistent application of the Badger safety program across the organization, by SHS professionals, Badger employees and other stakeholders. 
  • Maintains a strong safety culture across the assigned area and throughout Badger. 
  • Adheres to and supports adoption of applicable regulatory changes and communicates the appropriate changes to Badger personnel. 
  • Conducts priority-based area visits across the organization to complete coaching, mentoring and trust.  
  • Supports accuracy and timeliness of monthly SHS reporting. 
  • Supports the SHS program by ensuring safety policies, procedures, and training is current and consistently applied. 
  • Works with our clients to support Badger's efforts to provide safe, efficient service. 
  • Supports Operations management to sell, sustain, and improve field safety programs. 
  • Supports accident and incident investigations, analysis and preparation of incident reports and summaries, including the preparation and distribution of “Safety Alerts” from post-accident results. 
  • Supports SHS programs and recommends enhancements to our safety equipment (with specific focus on safety related training for Badger employees) that will improve Badger’s overall safety culture. 

Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree, Graduate degree preferred. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred 
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, provincial and local safety, transportation, and environmental regulations 
  • Knowledge of industry safety training 
  • 5+ years’ experience preferred in the following Industries: 
    • Vacuum, Pump Trucks, or Fleet 
    • Commercial Underground Construction and/or Utilities 
    • Oil and Gas 
    • Waste 
  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift 30lbs. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time. 
  • Fully applies oneself to the requirements of the position. 

The salary for this position will be commensurate with education or work experience.
Candidates will be required to successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include background check, MVR history and a drug test.

Our key technology is the Badger HydrovacTM, which is used primarily for safe excavation around critical infrastructure and in congested underground conditions. The Badger Hydrovac uses a pressurized water stream to liquefy the soil cover, which is then removed with a powerful vacuum system and deposited into a storage tank. Badger manufactures and designs our truck-mounted hydrovac units, giving us the opportunity to incorporate feedback from our hydrovac operators into existing and future design and manufacturing processes.
